Peter B. French has served as the university's executive vice president and chief operating officer since 1997. He is responsible for the university’s financial management, physical plant, human resources, information technology and all other administrative areas. He works closely with trustees, the president and all senior officers on planning, assessing and implementing solutions to the university’s most pressing management and financial concerns.
Prior to joining Brandeis, French served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at SUNY/Downstate Medical Center, as first deputy commissioner of the New York City Parks Department, as a principal budget examiner with the New York State Division of Budget and as executive vice president of Cedar Crest College.
French holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master of public administration from the State University of New York, Albany.
